Rape Jokes Are Just Part of Male Sexuality Says Thomas Impelluso, San Diego State Professor

Before we begin, here is the preface that Thomas Impelluso gave to women and feminists:

‘I expect maturity and intelligence on the part of the reader and the ability to avoid a suffocating black and white view of the world.’

Once a man with a public profile, a University professor, gets caught writing about his disdain for women he usually has two choices. He can either accept that he’s got some hateful opinions of women and think about what he said or he can double down on his misogyny. Thomas Impelluso, Engineering professor from San Diego State University has decided not only to double down but to triple down. He’s written three pieces for the hate site A Voice for Men and I’ve covered each one. [1] [2]

In his most recent article he explains that men who joke about rape are only really doing it for themselves, or something.

Rather, I intend to discuss aspects of why men talk about it (rape) a certain way (through indifference, jokes, web postings, or other forms of mockery);

His post is all over the place in trying to explain to us ladies why men joke about rape.  Mainly he claims rape jokes are feminists fault in what he calls ‘Male Vilification Culture.‘ This is probably a play on ‘rape culture’ seeing as the AVFMers think that rape culture is dead because one organization in the US wrote a document saying they weren’t going to focus on it.

Male Vilification Culture, Thomas says, is making it too hard for men to be men and to joke about rape.

Feminists would like to lump everything from jokes, to a flirtation, to an unwanted kiss, to a slap on the ass, to a violent act all beneath one umbrella of rape culture.  Let me be clear: I am talking about jokes, not actions; jokes from hormone riddled young men who have been bashed by the umbrella of a feminism

Last time I checked unwanted kissing, ass slapping and sexual violence is an act, not a joke. It’s called sexual assault. This is why people like Professor Impelluso shouldn’t be teaching young women while the State pays him. If you think it’s just a joke to slap a young female student on the ass then you really shouldn’t be in a position of power.

Thomas tries to blame his sexism on feminists, namely Hannah Rosin, who wrote a very good book called ‘The End of Men.’ It’s not a sexist book at all. It’s about the decline of American production and manufacturing that’s left many middle class men without a job. He claims Hannah Rosin is making rape jokes so it’s ok for him to do it too. Hannah Rosin has not made any rape jokes.

If you read my first and second post about Thomas you’ll see that he has an obsession with his penis and the act of urinating. He said that that’s how males learn math. I’m afraid his obsession with penises isn’t over. In this rambly post about rape jokes he talks extensively about it.

‘Men sometimes (not always) view their body’s penis as an external object with a mind of its own.’

‘Possibly, with the advent of the Industrial Revolution, the concept of the penis as a machine emerged.’

‘We might sometimes see our own bodies as an appendage to erections.’

‘Men will sometimes (often with self-deprecating humor) view their organ as a machine with a switch that operates masculinity.’

‘We are, to one extent (but not all) a life support system to the penis, the testicles and the prostate.’

‘Feminist culture first conveys the image of the penis as a weapon:’

‘We wait for women to reveal their desires and take control of the cock.’

‘But feminism continues to infantize women. It continues to hold them in fear of the penis.’

‘This thing between our legs has too much control over us and has given us grief sometimes, so please take it and do something with it.’

‘Seriously, we’ll gladly position ourselves on your mound at home base if you grab that bat with both hands and knock a couple of balls out of the park.  Open your umbrella wide, though; you might get wet.’

I had to read Thomas’s highly sexualized post a few times before I understood what the hell he was saying. His main point is that penises control men and if we women don’t do something with them then men will make rape jokes that are naturally a part of  ‘male language.’ He says feminists are just misinterpreting men who make rape jokes or who slap asses and force kisses. Thomas claims it’s not ‘rape culture’ but ‘Male Villification’ and if we ladies would just give men what they want they wouldn’t behave like violent predators.

‘Meanwhile, we men sit back and wait.  And wait.  And wait.  And wait for women to take agency.  We wait for women to reveal their desires and take control of the cock.  Our jokes play off our impatience, centered on how we, ourselves, wish to be abused: yes, abused.’

Folks, I can’t really do this justice because it’s a subtlety violent rape apologetic rant complete with overt sexual language. This man is supposed to be a role model for young men and women. Through his attitude and language he’s taught them the same ole male supremacist model that says slapping asses and joking about rape is ok.

The most disgusting part of his rant is that he understands the power of language. When men ‘joke’ about rape it has consequences in the culture. He literally shows us that we live in a rape culture while simultaneously denying it. He’s maligning women who have shed light on our cultural attitudes and beliefs about rape and renaming it ‘male villification.’ Knowing the power of language he mocks women who know they deserve to be treated as human beings, not pieces of meat as he suggests women do to men.

‘Use us for your pleasure.  Treat us like meat.’

That’s all men are? Pieces of meat to be used and disposed of like Warren Farrell claims? Doesn’t that run counter to A Voice for Men’s stance that men are utilities? I wonder if AVFM is going to call him out on that? Probably not. AVFM is the silliest group of men I’ve ever witnessed in the Manosphere. The constant contradictions by their own writers is astounding.

I suppose AVFM just got pwnd by uh,  themselves!

MISANDRY!!!

UPDATE: It appears Thomas doesn’t work for San Diego State anymore. I was notified today. I don’t know if he was fired or what but judging by a video by Paul Elam and Dean Esmay, he was indeed shown the door by the University after being exposed. If anyone else has information, please share it.

  1. I think we’ve had this one before: You should be cautious of anyone who jokes about any kind of violence against anyone.

People who joke about any kind of violence are scary to me.

This is just one of his many idiotic “points,” but it struck me hard: “‘Feminist culture first conveys the image of the penis as a weapon:’”

No. Feminist do not convey the image of the penis as a weapon. Some men actually use their penises as weapons.

I can’t imagine that anyone but a rapist would find joking about rape acceptable or humorous.

I HOPE, for the sake of tuition-paying students on that campus, that he really is fired.

    • Yeah, I spotted that too but there’s was so many other tidbits of stupidity to pick from.

He’s wrong on all levels but ya know, we’re supposed to be mature enough to handle being taunted with rape jokes! And the reason men do it is FEMINISM! What a douche.
